The Nelson County School Board strives to provide the safest learning environment for all students. As a condition of employment, the Nelson County School Board requires all applicants to certify that they have not been convicted of a felony or subject of a founded case of child abuse and neglect. All applicants who are offered employment shall submit to fingerprinting and provide personal descriptive information which shall be forwarded through the Central Criminal Records Exchange to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the purpose of obtaining criminal history records. The personal information of the applicant is also used in a search of the registry of founded complaints of child abuse and neglect maintained by the Department of Social Services. If information is obtained which indicates that a person has been either convicted of a felony or is the subject of a founded case of child abuse and neglect, such applicant shall be denied employment or the employment shall be rescinded.
